USCM Shoulder lamp back by Matsucorp USCM Shoulder lamp back by Matsucorp
This is a Shoulder lamp kit I make as worn on the armor of the marines in Aliens, It's mostly resin but the lamp vents on the head are individual metal vent plates, over 45 inividual pieces make up the vent alone. I usually wire them to use two D-Cell batteries but it can be modified to almost anyting.

It has metal hardware and is all bolt together nothing glued.

The mounting brackets are metal.

It is, however with modern LED technology and high output rechargable batteries theres absolutely no need for the unit to be so big... :D

Oh well I'm not about to question the wisdom of James Cameron..LOL

Lots of battery capacity, so that it can run for several days, or weeks, without charging batteries sounds good to me. New tactical flashlights only have a run time of a couple of hours using a pair of CR123A batteries. This creates a situation where the modern Marine has to carry spare batteries, and replace them regularly. That's not something you want to carry with you into a fire fight, or have to change in the field. I wouldn't want my shoulder lamp to go dead after being on some dark rock after only 2 hours, especially if it was crawling with bugs.
