What do you want from me?

I wonder what it is you want from me?

From out of nowhere you appear, doing your best to get my attention.
I'm nothing special... You're up to something I know it... But what?

You tiptoe around me, feigning interest in whatever it is I'm doing, sauntering about... Ever closer.
Braver and braver you test my patience, push my boundaries, plying me with your innocence.

Soon it seems my personal space means nothing to you. Your curiosity in me is palpable.
You do your best to pique my interest in you, bumping in to me to see how I react.

I know all too well how this will go... your coy invitations will soon become demands.
Your patient suggestion will soon turn to petulant insistence... What would you have of me?

No longer content to be a passive part of this game I rise to meet you and force your hand.
And... Ever so predictably you run away. Oh I know your kind all too well, this is not unexpected.

Now, I'm the one searching for you, trying to find you, wanting to know what you want.
And it is while I'm searching, I come to realize what you wanted. Why you wanted me to follow.

I am filled with pity and guilt at the realization... Your bowl is empty!
Daddy is sorry kitten, I did not know, please forgive me.

I fill your bowl and top off your dish, and once sated you seek out my lap accepting my apologies.
